One more research to prove that the habit of drinking tea is very beneficial for health. Experts from the University of Dundee via the results of recent research indicates, drinking black tea may be one way of preventing diabetes.
As reported by the BBC on Monday (3 / 3), Scottish researchers managed to find a kind of compound contained in black tea that has great potential to overcome disease type 2 diabetes, or type of diabetes is most common today. According to them, these particular compounds can act as insulin in the body.
Experts at Dundee University led by Dr Graham Rena, a team from the Crop Research Institute revealed that compounds in black tea called theaflavins and thearubigin can mimic the function of insulin in the body.
• What we found in these compounds can mimic insulin action on proteins known as foxos, ¨ said Dr. Rena who published his findings in the latest issue of the journal Aging Cell.
¨ Foxos previously has been the basis of associations between diet and health in a wide variety of organisms including mice, worms and fruit flies. Our task now is to see whether these findings can be translated into something useful for human health, ¨ said Dr. Rena.
Dr Rena stressed that further research on these findings need to be done. Therefore, he urged people not necessarily consume black tea as a way of treating diabetes.
¨ People need not be a panic to drink black tea in large quantities and thought that tea could cure them of diabetes. We're still a long road to arrive at new treatments or dietary advice, ¨ he said.
¨ Our research into tea compounds is at a pre-clinical and experimental stage. Patients with diabetes should continue their treatment with a referral from their doctor, ¨ he added.
Even so, says Rena, ¨ There's something very interesting from bagimana a natural ingredient in black tea raises the benefits, both in relation to diabetes and general health. ·
